Internet and social media can be as powerful as it can even impact your career and life. Social media are an open book of your life, it resembles your attitude, likes and interests.

Twitter is one of the most popular social media out there. There are professionals and controversy marketers, meme-makers and politicians, employers and employees in twitter, posting which is called tweeting and re-posting which is called retweeting.

A tweet or retweet can some times make others happy and also at some bad times can trigger the feelings of others which can lead to bad things in our relationship with them and also ruin our life.

Some of your twitter accounts may be a mess of retweets and worthless tweets which signifies your immaturity. So you will need to start fresh, without losing your username. Most you might think there is an option there in twitter to reset or restore factorize your twitter account.

But Twitter does not provide you an option to restart fresh. It does not have an option to bulk delete the tweets or to bulk unlike all your likes.

I can provide you two methods to restart fresh on twitter.

Creating a new twitter account without losing your username, email id and phone number.

This is the method suggested by twitter to star fresh and the most convenient if you want your followers and the following to be 0.

If you need a twitter account with the same username of the old account make sure you change your old account's username to a temporary one before deactivating it.

You can also change your phone number and email address to add it to your new account before deactivating the old account.

  • So go to Twitter account settings.
  • Change your username to a temporary username.
  • Change or delete your phone number.
  • Update your email address with your unofficial email id.
  • Then deactivate your account.

This method is the safest and most effective method to delete all your Twitter history.

If you don't want to deactivate your twitter account or want to keep all your followers as it is now, then you should use the method given below.

Restart fresh on twitter without deactivating your Twitter account.

In this method, you don't need to deactivate your account but delete all your Twitter history including the tweets and your likes.

You need to use tools like TweetDelete to delete tweets and likes.

  • Go to the TweetDelete website and delete your tweets and Twitter likes.

TweetDelete allows you to have control in deleting your tweets and likes by limiting the deletion of tweets and likes from a certain time.

Now you will have an account with zero tweets and all your Twitter likes will be unliked.

  • Next, if you want to unfollow all the people you have followed. You can use a Chrome extension called Twitter Unfollow All.

Using the Chrome extension is a time taking process if you have a huge number of people you are following but it works.

The first method is the safest and the suggested method by Twitter.
If you're looking to get a fresh start on your Twitter account without losing your username, the best way to do this is to create another account with a temporary username, and then switch the username between your current account and the new account. Please see our article on changing your username for more info.

The second method is easy and it works but I can't take responsibility for the other app's control over your twitter account since you need to sign into them using your Twitter account. There might also chance of getting your account suspended or banned by Twitter for using bots.

If you are using the second method I would suggest you revoke the permissions given to the apps (TweetDelete) and changing the password of your account.
